چکیده

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative characterized by the progressive degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra. Oxidative stress-induced neuronal death has been identified as one major causes nigrostriatal PD. The fruit Actinidia arguta (A. arguta), known sarunashi Japan, reported to show beneficial health effects such antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic, and anticholinergic effects. In this study, we investigated neuroprotective A. 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropypridine (MPTP)-induced PD model mice. juice was administered 7-week-old C57BL/6J mice continuously for 10 days before first MPTP injection. nigra induced (30 mg/kg, i. p.) once daily five consecutive days. We found that administration ameliorated MPTP-induced motor impairment suppressed reductions tyrosine hydroxylase-positive hydroxylase protein expression Our findings suggest taking could provide neuroprotection delays or prevents process

Protective effect of chinonin in MPTP-induced C57BL/6 mouse model of Parkinson's disease.

The aims of this study were to investigate the effect of chinonin in preventing 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced neurodegeneration in C57BL/6 mice and to examine the possible mechanisms. The neurotoxin MPTP was employed to create a subacute Parkinson's disease (PD)-like model in C57BL/6 mice. Chinonin (10, 20, 40 mg/kg body weight) was intraperitoneally administered 0...

Antiamnesic Effect of Actinidia arguta Extract Intake in a Mouse Model of TMT-Induced Learning and Memory Dysfunction

The antiamnesic effects of ethyl acetate fraction from Actinidia arguta (EFAA) on trimethyltin- (TMT-) induced memory impairment were investigated to find the possibility of functional food substances. EFAA showed a potent AChE inhibitory effect (IC50 = 53 μg/mL) and efficient neuroprotection against H2O2-induced oxidative stress. The administration of EFAA significantly decreased TMT-induced c...

Evaluation of Antioxidant and Antiproliferative Properties of Three Actinidia (Actinidia kolomikta, Actinidia arguta, Actinidia chinensis) Extracts in Vitro

The total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, vitamin C content, and antioxidant activities of ethanol extracts from different kiwifruit varieties (Actinidia kolomikta, Actinidia arguta, Actinidia chinensis) were determined in this study. Multiple scavenging activity assays including the hydroxyl radical, O(2) (-)·radical, DPPH, and the ABTS(+) radical scavenging activity assays were use...

Protective effect of metformin on D-galactose-induced aging model in mice

Objective(s): Metformin (Met), an antidiabetic biguanide, reduces hyperglycemia via improving glucose utilization and reducing the gluconeogenesis. Met has been shown to exert neuroprotective, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The present study investigated the possible effect of Met on the D-galactose (D-gal)-induced aging in mice. Materials and Methods: Met (1 and 10 mg/kg/p.o.), ...

Protective effect of ginger against the pentylenetetrazole-induced seizure threshold model in streptozocin treated-diabetic mice

Introduction: There is evidence that diabetes affects seizure susceptibility. Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) which is used in traditional medicine has antioxidant activity and neuroprotective effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the seizure threshold induced by pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) in diabetic mice after induction of diabetes with streptozocin and to examine the possible ...
